I am not a morning person. I don’t like getting up early and I especially don’t like to do so on vacation. I love choosing a breakfast/ brunch place with good ratings and go there once the regular crowd has cleared up. That is not very difficult because when we are exploring a new city we often have late dinners. We start the day late, enjoy a nice big brunch and then explore the city some more. During our recent visit to Nashville, we went to an amazing European cafe – Marché.
Marché Artisan Food is located in the heart of the historic East Nashville. The cafe has a full coffee and espresso bar with brunch served all day. We loved their unlimited coffee refills but I loved the cream pitcher even more!
Now isn’t that cute!
I think this cafe is just perfect to hang out with friends or your loved ones. The setting is rustic, the food is fresh and the unlimited coffee refills (from Bongo Java Roasting company) make the perfect setting. Sit, relax, talk with your friends or read a book while sipping a cup of hot tea (from the High Garden Tea company). Thinking about where to go on your first date? How about Marché! They have red, white and sparkling wines as well as beers, ciders and ales from Nashville. The bistro has pastries, crepes and omelets making it the perfect low key place for a hangout or a cute lunch.
Our waitress told us that their menu changes daily and it uses local seasonal products. They have loads of delicious breads, pastries and desserts to choose from.
Well, we were pretty hungry so I ordered a Croque Madame (which is apparently quite famous). This is an open-sandwich on a sourdough bread with ham, gruyere (hard yellow cheese), fried egg and béchamel sauce (a French white sauce). Tastes delicious and it costs only $12.00. The sandwich comes with a choice of mixed greens or chips.
Debarshi ordered a delicious cake to end the meal on a sweet note - Coconut Chocolate Truffle Cake.
Our waitress explained that the cake had several layers of vanilla sponge, coated with chocolate ganache and cream cheese. The cake is topped with toasted coconut and truffle and was absolutely scrumptious!
The best part, all the delicious cakes and pies are only for $6.00. I also clicked a photo of their display so that you can have an idea what all they have. Below you can see Eggnog Cheesecake, Chocolate Bombe along with Crème Brûlée and Pear Almond Caramel Bread Pudding.
Since we visited Nashville right before Christmas, they also had varieties of cookies all decorated with holiday colors. Below you will see Cherry White Chocolate Almond Biscotti, Salted Caramel Meringue, Spritz Sandwich Cookie with Chocolate Filling, Iced Buttermilk Cookie, Molasses Spice Cookie, Chocolate Ganache Thumbprint and Walnut Acorn Cookie. Each cookie costs $2.50 and although we were not able to try any of these, I saw several people enjoying them.
Our waitress even gave us a local map to explore that area. She told us about all the places we can go. She was friendly and courteous. I will say this was an incredible experience and if you are in Nashville this place is a must try.
I think because of its location and pricing; Marché is always crowded. So, I would recommend going here a bit early. Even if you have been asked to wait, it should not be too long (we waited for about 10 minutes and it was worth it). If you are there, do not leave without eating their house made desserts.
