I stumbled onto this recipe a few months back. We had a whole pack of frozen ground beef patties just sitting in the freezer and one day Debarshi tried an amazing recipe of Patty Melt. It was super delicious and I immediately had this idea that there were other ways of using those patties. I wanted to prepare something quick yet delectable. I decided to make the sauce from scratch because we didn’t have any ready made marinara sauce at home, believe me best decision of my life! This sauce takes only a few minutes to prepare and its fragrance is enough to make you hungry for the pasta. I have used spaghetti for this recipe, but you can use whatever pasta you have at home or like. This is an easy, budget-friendly, midweek meal that everyone will love.
You can buy a bottle of marinara sauce if you don’t want to make the sauce from scratch or don’t have enough time to blend it. However, make sure to add the herbs and spices (Garlic Powder, Bay Leaf, Dried Oregano, Dried Parsley, Ketchup and
Freshly Ground Black Pepper) and simmer for at least 10 minutes before adding it in the pasta. Trust me the spices bring all the flavor and without them this fantastic dish will lose all its meaning. Serve this amazing homemade pasta with salad greens and hot rolls or toasted sourdough bread.

Directions:
- Cook the spaghetti in a large pot of boiling salted water according to the package instructions. Drain. Pour 1 tablespoon of Olive Oil all over it and mix. Keep it aside.
- Add 2 tablespoons of Olive Oil in a wide skillet over medium heat. Allow it to heat up for a few seconds.
- Add Onion and Garlic Powder and cook until soft about 5 minutes.
- Add the Tomatoes and Bay Leaf.
- Season with Salt and Pepper and turn down the heat to low.
- Add the Red Pepper Flakes, Dried Oregano and Parsley and the Ketchup. Mix everything together.
- Keep frying till you can see the mixture drying up and a layer of oil separating from it.
- Once the tomatoes look cooked (cover and cook for 15-20 minutes over low heat), turn off the heat and let it cool down. (Tip: You can cool it completely and refrigerate it if you are planning to make the pasta the next day or later.)
- Now let’s move on to the Hamburgers: In a medium skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of Butter over medium-low heat.
- Add the sliced Onions and cook slowly until the onions are golden brown, add a little water and caramelize them.
- Take the hamburger patty and crumble it on the skillet and add the Chili powder, Salt, Pepper, Garlic and Ginger powder.
- Turn up the heat to medium. Fry for a few minutes then add a little water to caramelize the beef. This will bring that crispy crunchy texture. Keep it aside.
- Now we need to puree the sauce, by now it has cooled down so let’s take our blender or Nutribullet (extractor blade) and make the puree.
- Once this is done, transfer it to the skillet to warm it up (over low heat). Toss the pasta in, a handful at a time and mix everything together.
- Finally, add the caramelized beef and mix.
- Hamburger Pasta is ready! Serve with salad greens and toasted bread and enjoy.
