Today in the travel section, I am taking you to a land of Greek food - Athena Greek Restaurant, Chicago. TripAdvisor rates this place at number 2.
Debarshi and I found this restaurant during one of our Chicago trips. It is in downtown so it was convenient for us to drive there. We decided to sit outside in their outdoor patio because it was a beautiful evening with a cool breeze.
The restaurant is beautifully decorated with greek architecture and lights.
We started with a plate of Baba Ghanoush and Pita bread along with our drinks. For those who don’t know - Baba ghanoush is prepared by mashing roasted eggplant. It is then mixed with garlic and tahini (a condiment made from toasted ground hulled sesame).
For our main course I ordered Arni Kokkinisto ($23.00) which is braised lamb in a delicious tomato sauce, served with rice. The waitress suggested that sometimes the guests substitute the rice with pita bread because the sauce goes great with it and she was right!
Debarshi ordered Brizola Mosharisia ($36.00) which is a 16 oz. Ribeye broiled to your liking. It is usually served with rice and potatoes but Debarshi got them substituted for broccoli.
Going to this restaurant was a pretty great experience and I would definitely want to re-visit this place again.
Windy city is full of great places to eat. Why not read the reviews first:
