When my nurse told me that I need to consume healthy fats postpartum, avocado was at the top of both her and my list. I just love the bland flavor of avocado. It is like a blank canvas ready to be filled in with whatever colors you like. If you have a sweet tooth, go for a smoothie (Avocado Smoothie or Avocado Strawberry Smoothie) and if you want an appetizer, there is nothing better than fresh homemade guacamole.
I do have another guacamole recipe on this blog (Guacamole with Goat Cheese and Bacon) but that requires a few extra ingredients which I didn’t have at home this time. So, I decided to go for simple and easy. This chunky guacamole turned out very good. Needless to say this tastes best when prepared and consumed fresh. Serve this yummy guacamole with toasted pita/ mini naans and enjoy.
Ingredients (Serves 1):
- Avocado – 1 big
- Red Onion – ¼
- Lemon/ Lime Juice – 1 tablespoon, freshly squeezed
- Cilantro – a handful, washed
- Garlic Powder – ½ teaspoon
- Chaat Masala - ½ teaspoon
Directions:
- Scoop out the avocado pulp using a spoon.
- I use my ninja Food Chopper to make this dip. Simply transfer the Avocado, Red Onion and Cilantro in it and give a few whirs.
- Transfer to a serving bowl and add the Lemon/ Lime Juice, Garlic Powder and Chaat Masala. Stir to mix.
- Serve with toasted Pita or mini Naans.
