5 Minute Purees – Blueberry Avocado Banana Puree and Cherry Mango Banana Puree

Blueberry Avocado Banana Puree

Making different types of combination purees for baby Prisha is fun but I don’t always find time to cook and blend. These 5 minute purees are a lifesaver. Mommies, I present to you two delicious purees. One is prepared with fresh Blueberries, Avocado and Banana and the second uses frozen Cherries and Mango. You can of course use frozen Blueberries or fresh Cherries and Mango.

I microwave the fruits to soften them up, then run them in my Nutri bullet till they form a smooth creamy puree. I prefer making small batches of these purees so that they are usually finished before the day ends.

This puree is so yummy that I often double up the ingredients so that Debarshi and I can also enjoy a nutritious smoothie. The goodness of avocado, sweetness of banana and the perfect amount of tang from the berries/ cherries makes this my new favorite and of course Prisha loves it!

The idea of cherry, mango and banana came from our oatmeal. We added these frozen fruits in our oats to make it a hearty brunch and it tasted so good that I thought this could be a wonderful puree for Prisha as well. If you are a Costco member do check their frozen fruits section for these fruits. The best part about picking frozen Mango is no peeling or cutting out the seed. With Cherries it’s a blessing because they are already seeded. Saves a lot of time! I have prepared this puree with fresh Cherries as well. You can either cut out the seeds first and then cook them a bit or you can cook them first then just mash the cherries with your fingers and throw out all the seeds. I still think frozen is the way to go just for convenience.

Ingredients:
For the Blueberry Avocado Banana Puree:
  • Blueberry – 1 cup (fresh or frozen)
  • Banana – 1, ripe
  • Avocado – ¼, ripe

For the Cherry Mango Banana Puree:
  • Cherry – 1 cup (fresh or frozen)
  • Banana – 1, ripe
  • Mango – 1 cup (fresh or frozen)

Directions:
For the Blueberry Avocado Banana Puree:
  • Take a microwave safe bowl and place the Blueberries in it.
  • Cover with a cling wrap (also known as Saran wrap or plastic wrap) and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Allow it to cool down then transfer to the blender cup (Nutribullet cup) with the Avocado and Banana.
  • Blend until smooth, add a tablespoon of water till it is smooth enough for your baby.
  • Serve and let them enjoy the goodness!

For the Cherry Mango Banana Puree:
  • Take a microwave safe bowl and place the Cherries and Mango pieces in it. Alternatively, you can also cook this on the stove top.
  • Cover with a cling wrap and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Allow them to cool down then transfer to blender cup (Nutri Bullet cup) with the Banana. If the cherries are not seeded, mash them with your fingers and throw out the seeds (I do this step with frozen cherries as well to make sure there aren’t any seeds).
  • Blend until smooth, add a tablespoon of water till it is smooth enough for your baby.
  • Serve and let them enjoy the goodness!
