Avocado Purees – Avocado Cherry Banana Puree and Avocado Orange Banana Puree

Avocado Cherry Banana Puree

When I think of avocados, I think of guacamole! Yummy Guacamole with either just a handful of ingredients or my gourmet Guacamole with goat cheese and bacon. Debarshi even adds avocados in our salads and I just love adding them in my smoothies. The bland taste and creamy texture of avocado makes it perfect to add in anything! And therefore avocados have become one of my favorite things to add in baby purees.

Avocados are super healthy, packed with good fats. They are rich in Vitamin K, B5, C, B6 and E with Folate and Potassium. They are loaded with heart-healthy monounsaturated fatty acids, fiber and antioxidants. Avocados are not very expensive and you can easily find them at any grocery shop. These two recipes are really easy to make and you can use just one avocado to make both of them so there is no need to buy a whole bag if you just want to give these a try.

Baby Prisha will soon graduate to finger foods so I am trying my best to share as many yummy recipes of purees as I can before I forget them. She is already following a Breakfast (around 10:30 am), Lunch (around 1 pm), Snack (around 4:15 pm) and Dinner (around 6:15 pm) schedule and I am thankful to this little baby for adhering to this (well on most of the days). Seems like she has inherited my passion of reading because she sure loves reading her books (and spilling things, tearing and dropping them on the floor). Lol! She is after all just a baby.

So try these two purees and I hope your baby loves them as much as Prisha does.

Ingredients:
For the Avocado Cherry Banana Puree:
  • Avocado – ½, ripe
  • Cherry – 1 cup (fresh or frozen)
  • Banana – ½, ripe

For the Avocado Orange Banana Puree:
  • Avocado – ½, ripe
  • Orange – ½ cup freshly squeezed juice (no pulp)
  • Banana – 1, ripe

Avocado Orange Banana Puree

Directions:
For the Avocado Cherry Banana Puree:
  • Take a microwave safe bowl and place the Cherries in it. Alternatively, you can also cook this on the stove top.
  • Cover with a cling wrap (also known as Saran wrap or plastic wrap) and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Allow them to cool down then transfer to blender cup (Nutribullet cup) with the Avocado and Banana. If the cherries are not seeded, mash them with your fingers and throw out the seeds (I do this step with the frozen ones as well, just to make sure there are no seeds).
  • Blend until smooth, add a tablespoon of water till it is smooth enough for your baby.
  • Serve and let them enjoy the goodness!
  • This puree can be kept in the fridge for 1-2 days.

For the Avocado Orange Banana Puree:
  • I use a big fresh orange for this, you can juice it in a blender or a hand-held juicer. Strain to remove any pulp or seeds.
  • Transfer to blender cup (Nutribullet cup) with the Avocado and Banana.
  • Blend until smooth, add a tablespoon of water till it is smooth enough for your baby.
  • Serve and let them enjoy the goodness!
  • This puree can be kept in the fridge for 1-2 days.
