Plum Apple Avocado Puree

This might be the last avocado based puree I will be posting because baby Prisha has started eating avocado as a finger food. Eating finger food is such a fun time for the babies right? And while it means we will have more things to clean, it also encourages their pincer grasp movement. What is that? You might have already noticed that they have been picking up stuff and trying to put in their mouth. This movement is crucial for further development and by giving them finger foods and keeping patience we are encouraging them to become independent, develop their motor and self feeding skills. When the children accomplish pincer grasp they can pick up all sorts of thin and small objects. Has your baby been doing that? Are you also thinking, I just cleaned this area, where and how do they keep finding all these small things? It seems like they can find everything, even the tiniest things which are almost invisible to our eyes. These small things are so attractive to them that they pick it up and in it goes in their mouth!

Well, whether your baby is yet eating finger food or not, you can certainly give them this puree. This is a delicious blend of flavors, it is creamy because of the avocado and can also be used as a smoothie recipe. Treat for the baby and treat for the parents. Try it!

Ingredients:
  • Dried Plums – 3- 4
  • Apple – ½, big, cored, peeled and cut into halves
  • Avocado – ½, ripe

Directions:
  • Boil the dried plums and apple in a small pot or microwave (in 1 cup of water) till they are soft. Let them cool down.
  • Transfer to blender cup (Nutri bullet cup) with the Avocado.
  • Blend until smooth, add a tablespoon of water (in which they were cooked) till it is smooth enough for your baby.
  • Serve and let them enjoy the goodness!
  • This puree can be kept in the fridge for 1-2 days.

Tip: Do not throw away the extra water in which the fruits were cooked, use it to thin any other homemade puree. It can also be given to your baby as fruit infused water (strain it first). Always consult your pediatrician before introducing anything new to your baby.
