Sweet Potato, Mango and Avocado Puree

Baby Prisha is a super fast crawler and cruiser (walks while holding onto objects). We are in a constant, ‘look out there she goes’ stage. She continuously keeps entertaining us so that at the end of the day when she goes to bed, we are also super tired. It’s a wonderful fun filled stage of our life, as well as for all those parents who are sharing this stage with their babies. They change so much in their first year right? From being just newborns, they start lifting their heads, turning sides, crawling, sitting up and onto the next phase – walking and talking. It is amazing and everyday I thank God for giving me this beautiful wonderful baby.

Since Prisha is already in stage 2, I have also updated her foods. From single ingredient purees, I have started making combination purees. Mostly, because I want to serve her different types of food instead of just one. Avocado is a delicious ingredient full of healthy fats and just bland enough to be mixed in with anything!

So, what I do is, take a whole sweet potato and use half of it as just Sweet Potato Puree while the other half goes into this delicious combo. I do the same with mango. Just think, would you like to eat the same stuff all day? No! Right? So why will your baby? Also it’s fun to give her a little bit of this and a little bit of that. This combo is rich in nutrients and quick to prepare.

Ingredients:
  • Avocado – ½ ripe
  • Sweet Potato – ½ big
  • Mango – 2/3 cup (I used frozen)

Directions:
There are only three steps for making this combo:
  • Preparation: Wash the Avocado, Sweet Potato and Mango (not required if using frozen). Peel and chop into small pieces.
  • Cook: Cook the Sweet Potato, use a pot or pressure cooker, cover it with enough water and cook till soft and tender. Use a fork to test, if it goes in easily, the potatoes are done.
  • Blend: Let the Potatoes cool down a bit, then blend with the Mango and Avocado (I use my Nutri Bullet) till it is smooth enough for your baby. Use the water in which the potatoes were cooked to make a smooth puree. Use within 1 day.

Try these Baby Food purees as well:
