Breakfast Purees – Pear Oats Plums Blueberries and Pear Oats Apricots Mangoes

Pear Oats Plums Blueberries Puree

Barriga llena, corazón contento (A full belly and a happy heart) applies not only to adults but to babies as well. A well fed baby is a happy baby. These two breakfast purees are my favorite. They are easy to make, yummylicious to eat and nutritious for the baby. The best part, these two purees use a combination of fresh, dried and frozen fruits so you don’t even have to worry about buying a ton of fresh fruits for making baby food.

The first puree is a Pear Oats Plums Blueberry puree where I have used fresh pear, oats, dried plums and frozen blueberries. For the second puree, I have used fresh pear, oats, dried apricots and frozen mangoes. If you notice the ingredients, fresh pear is common in both the purees which means it is the only fresh fruit you need to buy and worry about consuming on time. Dried plums and apricots are easy to buy in bulk and store and the same goes for frozen blueberries and mangoes. In fact, Costco sells these big packs of both dried and frozen fruits so if you are a member definitely check them out.

This yummy medley of fruits and Oats makes a warm filling breakfast for baby Prisha. You can double up the ingredients and make yourself a quick smoothie with it. It is absolutely lovely to start the day.

Preparing this yummy breakfast is quick and easy. Just microwave for three-four minutes chopped bite size Pears, a handful or two of blueberries or mangoes, two teaspoons of old fashioned oats, three-four dried Plums or apricots with ½ cup of water. Let it cool down then puree and serve! I usually do this step the previous night so that the oats get ample time to soak all the water and fruit juices. If you are in a hurry, you can grind some oats beforehand and keep them handy. Once the fruits have microwaved, mix in the ground oats with them and cover for a few minutes so that the oats cook through. Always taste the food first to make sure it is cooked and cool enough for your babe.

Try the two recipes then post your photos using the hashtag #lifewithoutalu. I hope your babe also loves these breakfast purees as much as Baby Prisha loves them.

Pear Oats Apricots Mangoes Puree

Ingredients:
For the Pear Oats Plums Blueberries Puree:
  • Pear – 1, chopped in bite size pieces
  • Old Fashioned Oats (whole or ground) – 2 teaspoons
  • Plums – 3-4, dried
  • Blueberries – about ½ cup, fresh or frozen

For the Pear Oats Apricots Mangoes Puree:
  • Pear – 1, chopped in bite size pieces
  • Old Fashioned Oats (whole or ground) – 2 teaspoons
  • Apricots – 3-4, dried
  • Mangoes – about ½ cup, fresh or frozen, cut into cubes

Directions:
For the Pear Oats Plums Blueberries Puree:
  • Take a microwave safe bowl and add the Pear, Oats, Plums and Blueberries in it.
  • Add ½ cup of water in it, cover with a cling wrap (also known as Saran wrap or plastic wrap), and cook for 3-4 minutes.
  • Allow it to cool down completely. I actually do this step either at least an hour before breakfast or the previous night. This allows the oats to soak up all the water and fruit juices and cook completely. If you are in a hurry, grind the oats and add with the fruits.
  • Transfer to the blender cup (Nutribullet cup).
  • Blend until smooth, add a tablespoon of water till it is smooth enough for your baby.
  • Serve and let them enjoy the goodness!
