Nothing says summer like Peach. I love a good Peach cobbler. Of course baby Prisha is too young to enjoy this delicious treat at her age. So I decided to make her a delicious vegetable-fruit combo with Peach so that she gets to enjoy this yummy fruit as well.
When it comes to Peaches, there are a couple of things I look for:
- Freshness
- Firmness (a good indicator of a freshly picked peach)
- Should be ripe with a pleasant aroma
- No bruises (brown spots)
- Shouldn’t have shriveled skin
- Full colored (vibrant yellow or orange background color, partially or fully covered by a deep red blush)
- Big size (medium to large-sized)
When I am adding any fruit in baby Prisha’s food, I don’t generally peel it. You can choose to peel it or not. I do prefer cooking them because it makes the puree creamier. I also love that Peach is a stage 1 baby food, meaning that it can be served to the babies around 4-6 months and up. How to know if your baby is ready for solid foods? If your baby has a solid control of their head and neck, consult your pediatrician about starting solid foods. Ah, it is so much fun watching them gobble that first spoon of solid food! The wonder in their eyes and the smile on their face is pure joy.
Peach is a wonderful source of vitamin C and A, it is a great immune booster. Peach also have phosphorus (which is crucial for building healthy bones and teeth) and is a good source of potassium, an important electrolyte that helps regulate heartbeat.
I feel that the best way to make sure the babies are eating their purees is by eating our meals with them. That way they feel more engaged. It is also a very good practice to have family meals because these small habits make mealtime fun time. In many families like at my parent’s house, we used to have discussions and jokes at meal time. We would discuss our day, what all we did. I think we are going to have a lot of fun once baby Prisha starts talking.
This puree is loaded with essential nutrients from carrot, peach and cherry. It is deliciously sweet and flavorful. Try this!
Ingredients:
- Carrot – 1, peeled, washed and cut into medium cubes
- Peach – 1, washed, pitted and cut into thick slices
- Cherry – 1 cup (fresh or frozen)
Directions:
- Take a small pot, add the Carrot, Peach and Cherry in it.
- Add 1 cup of water, cover and cook till everything is well cooked and tender.
- Allow them to cool down then transfer to blender cup (Nutri Bullet cup). If the cherries are not seeded, mash them with your fingers and throw out the seeds (I do this step with frozen cherries as well to make sure there aren’t any seeds).
- Blend until smooth, adding a tablespoon of water till it is smooth enough for your baby.
- Serve and let them enjoy the goodness!
- This puree can be kept in the fridge for 1-2 days.
