This is a delicious treat both for the baby and mama!! This mango, banana, coconut cream puree is an absolute delight. You can choose to add a little yogurt. I made smoothies for Debarshi and myself with the leftover puree!! Yum!
Coconut is such a delicious fruit right? And the best part is it can be introduced as soon as your baby is ready to start solids (which is generally around 6 months of age). Do look out for sign of any allergy which is rare with coconut but you never know.
Coconut is rich in nutrients and can be given to baby in the form of milk, oil or cream. Its healthy fat nourishes a baby’s brain and supports the nervous system’s development. Dried Coconut can be consumed once they grow up a bit but the fresh meat can be given to them after one year of age or after they grow at least a couple teeth. Do keep an eye on them while they enjoy this delicious fruit. Coconut meat is rich in fiber to cultivate a healthy gut and other essential nutrients to help your baby thrive including copper, iron, manganese, selenium, zinc, and vitamin B6.
After Prisha turned one, I started giving her coconut water (after consulting with her pediatrician). I introduced it in small amounts because she was still getting used to the flavor of cow’s milk. I buy readymade packets of coconut water (from Costco) while making sure that there is no additional sugar in it.
So what’s the difference between the coconut cream, milk and water:
- Coconut Cream – This is the product after separating coconut residue that floats in coconut milk
- Coconut Milk – This is a simple mix of coconut and water.
- Cream of Coconut – This is a simple mix of coconut cream and sugar.
- Coconut Water – This is the clear liquid within a young coconut.
Out of all the coconut milk products, coconut cream is the fattest. You can mix coconut cream (canned) with water to make coconut milk. However, if the recipe calls for milk, do add a little bit of cream just to check the consistency, you can always add water and make it thin as much as you want.
Ingredients:
- Mango – ½ cup, cut into chunks
